1 week programme for the NEW JUNIOR CYCLE specifications<\/strong><\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

The Carlow Academy \u2018\u2019Primary to Secondary School Transition & Wellbeing Programme\u2019\u2019\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

This programme is aimed at 6<\/strong>th<\/sup><\/strong> class pupils going into 1<\/strong>st<\/sup><\/strong> year in 2021 BUT also to 1<\/strong>st<\/sup><\/strong> year students going into 2<\/strong>nd<\/sup><\/strong> year as means of 1<\/strong>st<\/sup><\/strong> year revision course<\/strong> (effectively a second chance to catch up on essential 1st<\/sup> year material)<\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

Subjects covered<\/strong>: Irish, Maths & Induction\/Wellbeing\/Study Skills<\/strong><\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

\u2018The Carlow Academy\u2019<\/em><\/strong> strives to cater for the individual needs of all pupils and to build the confidence of the pupil. Our small class sizes provide direct, continuous contact with caring and supportive teachers.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

We aim to develop knowledge that will help alleviate the stress associated with moving from Primary to Secondary school and which will allow pupils to make more effective choices and to attain their maximum results once they enter secondary school.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Course Duration:<\/strong>\u00a0Each programme will run from Monday August 9<\/strong>th<\/sup><\/strong> 2021 to Thursday August 12<\/strong>th<\/sup><\/strong> 2021<\/strong> for the following times each day for the subjects listed below<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n

Maths<\/strong><\/td>\n11.30am-1pm<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Induction, Study Skills & Wellbeing<\/td>\n1.45pm-3.15pm<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/figure>\n

[4 hours 30 minutes each day<\/em>, therefore,<\/strong><\/em> totalling 18 hours of tuition throughout the week <\/em><\/strong>\u263a]<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

The Carlow Academy\u2019s study centre is equipped with a canteen area for students to enjoy their breaks in a sociable setting by mixing with friends and making new ones.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

There will be a 30-minute break at 11am and a 45 minute break at 1pm<\/strong>. Students are encouraged to bring their own food and fruit\/healthy snacks to keep them focused and there is a fresh water on site to fill up water bottles.\u00a0<\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

Students must stay in the Academy for the full break and lunch time for health and safety reasons.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

New Junior Cycle Gaeilge\/Irish Introduction Programme (for current 6th<\/sup> class pupils to prepare them for next year & for 1st<\/sup> year students going into 2nd<\/sup> year as revision)<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

This course is designed to introduce students to the requirements of the new Junior Cycle Irish course.<\/strong><\/h3>\n
